Transition from Stalicon Domains to Intellinon Domains
September 16, 2024
Introduction
As a part of our ongoing commitment to improving service quality and offering you the best possible solutions, we're making an important change in how we handle domain management. Starting October 3rd, 2024, all domain services provided under Stalicon Domains will transition to Intellinon Domains. This document provides an in-depth explanation of this change, why it's happening, and what it means for you.
Who Are Intellinon and Stalicon?
Before diving into the details, it's important to understand the relationship between Intellinon and Stalicon:
- Stalicon has been your growth partner, helping with website building, marketing strategies, branding, and other services tailored to your business.
- Intellinon is the parent company of Stalicon, providing enterprise-level domain management and security solutions. Although Intellinon has been mostly behind the scenes, it has played a critical role in powering the domain services we’ve delivered to you.
In other words, while you may have only interacted with Stalicon, the domain services for enterprise-grade clients have always been backed by Intellinon.
What Was Stalicon Domains?
Historically, Stalicon Domains was a service we provided to help you manage your website domains—whether those were simple website addresses (like yourcompany.com) or complex setups with multiple subdomains.
- For clients with larger budgets and enterprise needs, we sourced domains directly through Intellinon, ensuring that they came with high-level security, scalability, and performance guarantees.
- For smaller projects or clients with more modest needs, we occasionally sourced domains from third-party providers. These providers offered cost-effective options but did not always have the same level of security, speed, or control that Intellinon provided.
We ensured all domains, whether from Intellinon or third-party providers, were secured and managed according to Stalicon’s standards. This service was referred to as Stalicon Domains.
What Has Changed?
From October 3rd, 2024, the Stalicon Domains service will be retired, and all enterprise-grade domains will be managed solely through Intellinon Domains.
- Intellinon Domains: Domains sourced from Intellinon will continue to be backed by the same security, performance guarantees, and service level agreements (SLAs) you’ve come to expect. Nothing changes here.
- Non-Intellinon Domains: If your domains were previously sourced from providers other than Intellinon, they will still be managed by Stalicon, but without the additional security, performance guarantees, and SLAs. These domains will now be managed by your project team instead of a dedicated Stalicon Domains team.
We ensured all domains, whether from Intellinon or third-party providers, were secured and managed according to Stalicon’s standards. This service was referred to as Stalicon Domains.
Why Is This Happening?
The decision to retire Stalicon Domains comes after careful consideration of three main challenges we faced:
- Integration Issues with Third-Party Providers:
Managing domains from providers outside of Intellinon was becoming increasingly difficult. These third-party providers often could not match Intellinon’s capabilities, particularly in areas like data control and system integration. This created inefficiencies in our overall system and affected how well we could manage all domains.
Imagine having two different cars in the same garage—one high-performance vehicle that works smoothly and another that constantly needs repairs. The second car ends up affecting the performance of the first simply because they share the same space.
By moving all enterprise clients to Intellinon Domains, we can now fully optimize our systems and avoid these inefficiencies.
- Speed and Performance:
Speed is critical when managing domain operations on the scale we handle. Even a slight delay in processing can have large-scale impacts. When domains are managed through Intellinon, we can ensure that every millisecond is accounted for, allowing us to maintain the performance and speed you’ve come to expect from Stalicon.
Non-Intellinon domains, however, were introducing performance bottlenecks. At the scale we operate, even small delays (like a fraction of a second) result in significant slowdowns over time.
- Cost Efficiency:
Managing third-party domains at the level of security and control we maintained for Intellinon-sourced domains became increasingly costly. Monitoring, securing, and managing every domain request required enormous resources, far outweighing the benefits for clients with more modest needs. It was no longer cost-effective to offer the same high-level features for third-party domains, leading to the decision to retire the Stalicon Domains service.
What Does This Mean for You?
- For Intellinon Domains Clients: If your domains are already sourced from Intellinon, nothing will change. You will continue to receive the same enterprise-grade service, with all the security, performance, and guarantees that come with it.
- For Non-Intellinon Domains Clients: Your domains will still be managed, but these domains will now be handled by your specific project team. They will not come with the SLAs, security, or performance guarantees that Intellinon Domains offer.
If you prefer the features associated with Intellinon Domains, we recommend migrating your domains to Intellinon. You can contact your Stalicon Executive for assistance with this migration.
What You Need to Do?
For most clients, there is nothing you need to do. You will continue to manage and renew your domains as you always have, at the same prices. The main difference will be whether your domains are sourced from Intellinon or a third-party provider.
If you want to ensure your domains continue to benefit from the full range of features offered by Intellinon Domains, reach out to your Stalicon Executive to explore migrating your domains to Intellinon.
